Siemens to further expand power supply network in the northern Emirates

11 April 2010, Dubai, UAE: Siemens’ Energy Power Distribution Division has received two orders with a combined value of approximately AED90 million (EUR18 million) via Abu Dhabi-based Al Jaber Group. The end user is the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) which aims for a further expansion of the power supply network in the northern region of the United Arab Emirates.

The two orders include the supply and installation of seven medium voltage turnkey substations, as well as the extension and modification of 22 existing substations in Ajman, Dhaid, Dibba, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain. The power supply project is scheduled for completion within 12 months.

The seven substations for the 33/11kV voltage levels will comprise more than 350 medium voltage panels and around 150 panels for control and protection. Through the partnership with Abu Dhabi based Al Jaber Group Siemens was able to successfully secure the first ever 33/11kV substation order on turnkey basis from FEWA.
