Enterprise Lithuania is urging Lithuania’s long line of companies and enterprises in the furniture, wood processing and paper sector to explore strategic business opportunities with businesses in the Middle East region. The move, which was announced during the opening of ‘Dubai WoodShow 2010’ today (April 13, 2010), signifies the country’s eagerness to create an investment roadmap of opportunities between key players in the Middle East and Lithuania’s growing list of timber, wood and paper companies - a sector that currently boats of more than 1,570 companies and over 50,000 employees.

Enterprise Lithuania is showcasing six of Lithuania’s best enterprises at this year’s edition of the region’s premier wood-focused exhibition, including Enterprise Lithuania, Jures Medis, Plankmara, JM Haus, Grafu Baldai and Teja Wooden Boats. According to a recent industry report, revenue generated from the timber, wood processing and paper sector comprised at least 1.8 per cent of the country’s GDP and also represents 1.5 per cent of Lithuania’s FDI in 2009. Owing to Lithuania’s highly forested out backs and deep tradition in the wood processing industry, the country is regarded as one of IKEA’s most important suppliers and home to one of the world’s largest office manufacturing company in the Baltic States.

“Participating in this year’s ‘Dubai WoodShow 2010’ allows us to explore the possibilities of creating strategic and advantageous partnerships with the Middle East region’s key players,” said Aneta Kacenaite, Senior Project Manager, Enterprise Lithuania. ”The key message we bring is that Lithuania is ready to do business; our companies produce products that are competitively priced, come from good geographical locations and can be delivered on time; even offering clients the flexibility of fulfilling non-standard orders. Our country’s attention to providing high quality, world class products is reflected in the success of top Lithuania brand names supplying the needs for international chains like IKEA, Ochoco Lumber, StoraEnso and SCA.”
